We’ll be crafting and showing at the World of Faeries Fairy Festival in South Elgin, IL on Saturday, August 3rd from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM and Sunday, August 4th from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
The theme of this years’ festival is Airship Cloud 9 Steampunk, and though steampunk isn’t really our thing, it’s been fun to think outside of our usual mossy fairy ring (aka out of the box) and has gotten our creative juices flowing. While sourcing some metal parts to mix in with our usual natural materials, I ran across this amazing steampunk fairy designed by Sue Beatrice of All Natural Arts.
To say that steampunk is Sue Beatrice’s thing is an understatement. While looking through the watch sculptures and steampunk portion of her All Natural Arts site, I was blown away by the complex detail in her art. Check out her Steampunk bunny and carousel horse while you’re there!
Fill two-thirds of the jar with lamp oil and secure the lid. Place a cotton wick in the jar and let it sit for about one hour before lighting so the oil soaks up into the wick. Nail a hole into the lid and pull the wick about a quarter inch out of the hole
